Briefly about me...

Merry Ruthe  (M. R.) Wilson was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, coming with her family as part of the “Great Migration” to Florida in 1956. She graduated With Distinction from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, earning a degree in English and Psychology, and did graduate work in English Education and Humanities at the University of South Florida.  Ms. Wilson is a retired teacher. She currently works as writer, illustrator, and mentor. Among her publications are a novel, Protocol 9; children’s books: A Flamingo Named Flannigan and its Companion Guide, suitable for home schooling, and The Secret of the Mermaid that Wept.  In Waaaay Beyond Lemonade, Wilson documents her journey of nearly four decades through breast cancer recovery and a misdiagnosis of bipolar disorder. She advocates for mental health care reform, and describes newfound peace and purpose.

          “The natural world is my greatest comfort and inspiration.” She lives in St. Petersburg, Florida.
